Funeral services for Ronda Harris Wagner of Casper will be at 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 16, at the Buffalo Wesleyan Church with Pastor Stephen Martin officiating. Ronda, 57, died suddenly at her home on Sept. 10.

Funeral services Lyle Ricky Aagard were held Friday, Sept. 2 in Auburn. Rick, 58, died Aug. 28 after a brief but valiant battle against cancer.

The Reservoir Fire, located about one-half mile northwest of Shell Reservoir in Big Horn County in the Cloud Peak Wilderness, is still being managed for multiple objectives. These objectives include public and firefighter safety, protection of structures and private land, and allowing the fire to regenerate decadent timber to improve wildlife habitat. The fire is being managed by local Forest Service resources, and has grown to approximately 20 acres since its detection on August 28th.

After 9/11, President Bush created the Department of Homeland Security (see related story) and then in 2003 the Wyoming Office of Homeland Security was created and moved to the Governor’s Office. Along with the new offices and new government employees came funding for emergencies for local government agencies.

One of the only area teams that didn’t schedule a game during the weekend of Aug. 26-27, the Burlington Huskies came out the chute firing Friday afternoon, beating a Class 2A opponent in Big Piney by a 21-13 score.

This issue of the Basin Republican Rustler focuses on the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks. In the regular issue we have several features and stories. We have two features quoting several south Big Horn County residents on where they were during the attacks and their thoughts 10 years later. It was interesting compiling the quotes and reading what people were doing, but more interesting was their thoughts about where our country is now.

The Riverside Lady Rebels celebrated the opening of the 2011 conference season with a three-game, 25-22, 25-19, 25-21 victory over Rocky in a match played in Cowley last Friday.

The Riverside Rebels opened the 2011 season with a win at home against the 2A Pinedale Wranglers, 30-14 last Friday.
Coach Adam Tri was pleased to pick up a win to start the season and to see some improvement from the scrimmage with Greybull the week before. He said Riverside was able to run the ball effectively against Pinedale.

Before moving forward with interviews for a new fair manager, the Big Horn County Fair Board needs to take a step back and decide exactly what duties it wants the manager to fulfill and what duties the fair board wants to undertake.

Big Horn County School District No. 4 has seen several changes to the staff from all schools. The school with the most changes this year is Cloud Peak Middle School, hiring five new teachers, most of which have moved from out of state.

A family outing turned tragic for a Lovell family Monday night when their kayaks capsized in a sudden windstorm on Big Horn Lake, dumping the family of eight into the water and costing them the lives of two young boys.
